At a first glance this appears to be a regular S3 Sportback but upon closer inspection we might be dealing in fact with a 2015 Audi RS3 mule. The vehicle was spotted undergoing testing in Germany around the Nürburgring and it had larger brakes while the soundtrack provided by the engine was not the same when compared to the S3. Moreover, this car featured a HN plate which is used most of the times for quattro RS models.
It doesn’t come really as a surprise that the upcoming 2015 Audi RS3 will continue with the brand’s iconic 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine taking into account the recently unveiled A3 clubsport quattro comes with this engine. Since the concept was a sedan, we expect the RS3 to use this body style even though the test mule seen here sports a hatchback look.
In terms of output, we estimate the vehicle will provide somewhere in the region of 400 PS give or take a few ponies, and these will be sent as usual to a quattro all-wheel drive system via what is believed to be a 7-speed S tronic gearbox.
An official reveal of the 2015 Audi RS3 will likely occur online around September while the vehicle’s public debut is probably planned for the beginning of October at the Paris Motor Show. Sales should commence before the end of the year.
