The Audi RS3 is proving to be a major hit in Australia where already 400 people have signed up for the super hatch. It was only a few days ago when the company announced a starting price of $78,900 (plus on-road costs) in the Land Down Under and it seems the model is proving to be very popular, even though sales won’t start until October.
The good news is there won’t be a big waiting list as Audi Australia has plans to provide a strong supply of the RS3 Sportback so prospect buyers will be able to get the car relatively quick. The reason for this is because Audi has selected Australia to launch the pilot program of the “Audi Sport” branding reserved to RS and R8 models.
The RS3 Sportback will be the most affordable RS model in Australia, undercutting the RS Q3 which begins at $81,510. The company estimates the new model will double RS sales in Australia next year which could turn the country into one of the top-five best performing markets for Audi.
However, let’s not forget the Audi RS3 Sportback will have to face some fierce competition coming from the facelifted Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG which is programmed to go on sale in Australia by the end of this year.
