Audi RS3 Sportback Sounds Great With Optional Sport Exhaust

Ever since Audi introduced the new A3 Sportback earlier this year, we’ve been patiently waiting to see the hotter versions. Months later, there’s still no sign of the S3, let alone the full-fat RS3. However, the arrival of new-gen models shouldn’t make us forget all about the outgoing cars, especially the five-cylinder hatch with the optional sport exhaust.

A new point of view (POV) video has emerged on YouTube courtesy of CarSpotterQVS, giving us the opportunity to see what it’s like to sit behind the wheel of the current RS3 Sportback. Needless to say, it’s not the same as actually driving the car, but it is a great opportunity to hear the 2.5 TFSI sing its tune. The Nardo Gray example is undoubtedly a real hoot to drive on those narrow countryside roads.

With the impending arrival of the next-gen car, we’re hoping prices of the current RS3 will go down to make Ingolstadt’s little rocket more attainable. That said, buying the new one should be well worth the financial effort taking into consideration the improvements Audi has made with the A3’s generation switch.

Just by comparing this car’s interior with an image of a base 2020 A3 will give you an idea of the upgrades Audi has developed for its successful compact car. Add into the mix the latest evolution of the inline-five turbo engine, and the RS3 should once again be a fierce rival for the Mercedes-AMG A45.

Getting back to the video at hand, we get to see the pre-facelift RS3 doing a few acceleration tests, one of which included the launch control. While the compact Sportback is not supercar quick, it has more than enough punch to put a smile on your face every time you floor it. The noise it makes from that optional sport exhaust further enhances the car’s appeal, and we’re hoping the gasoline particulate filter the Euro-spec car will have in the next-gen model won’t impact the soundtrack too much.
