Independent car renderer Theophilus Chin has decided to pay homage to the iconic Audi RS2 Avant by digitally imagining an Audi RS3 Avant. There are slim chances of seeing such a version reach production since Audi already has the RS3 Sportback and they plan on introducing an RS3 Sedan in United States in the following months so there wouldn’t be room enough for a third body style.
However, the attached renders do show a lot of potential for such a version which would be best characterized as a mini RS4 Avant. Not only would it be very practical, but an Audi RS3 Avant would also be a very desirable car in the high-performance compact wagon segment thanks to a 5-cylinder 2.5-liter TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine developing 367 hp and 465 Nm.
While the RS3 Sportback needs 4.3 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h), the Avant would probably be a few ticks of a second slower due to its slightly higher weight but it will still be proper quick. Top speed would be electronically-capped at 155 mph (250 km/h) but the RS3 Sportback can be optionally ordered with a 174 mph (280 km/h) limiter.
