It was nearly a month ago when Wheelsandmore introduced a bonkers 2020 Audi RS6 Avant with 996 horsepower on tap. The German tuner is now introducing a similar upgrade package for the RS Q8 a.k.a. the fastest production SUV at the Nürburgring. It mirrors the output of the high-performance wagon, which isn’t all that surprising considering the two models share the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine.
It takes the output from a stock 591 horsepower and 800 Newton-meters (590 pound-feet) to 996 hp and 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft). To put those numbers into perspective, the RS Q8 by Wheelsandmore packs nine additional horses over the original Bugatti Veyron and the exact same torque despite having eight fewer cylinders and also two fewer turbochargers.
Getting Veyron-matching power for your SUV doesn’t come cheap, though. The tuner is asking €41,933 (about $47,500) for its stage 5 kit, which involves making changes to the turbochargers, air intake, manifold, and exhaust system. There’s also an F1-derived air filter kit and a louder custom exhaust system, while the V8’s ECU has to be tweaked to get along with the massive power hike.
Should you want to go all out, Wheelsandmore will not only give you more power, but also new wheels. Pun intended. Sets as large as 24 inches are available, along with an electronic suspension lowering module bringing the Audi RS Q8 closer to the road for a more aggressive stance. It works with a smartphone app for both Android and iOS devices, lowering the speedy SUV at a simple touch of a button.
While the five stages of power upgrades are available as full packages, the aftermarket exhaust can also be purchased separately. Priced at €4,750 ($5,400), the stainless steel exhaust adds approximately 15 hp and comes with built-in flaps to alter the soundtrack depending on the selected mode: Race, Cruise, and Sport.
