VIDEO: Check out the New Audi RS Q8 in Detail

I’ve gone on record in saying that I like the standard Audi Q8. As someone who typically dislikes any sort of SUV “Coupe”, the Q8 is remarkably good for day-to-day lift. It’s so much more practical and spacious than most sporty SUVs and its looks really grow on you. Plus, its interior is fabulous. So what happens if you add weapons-grade power and Nurburgring lap-breaking agility? Well, you get the Audi RS Q8.

We’ve all seen a lot of reviews and videos of the new RS Q8 since it’s launched. However, seeing one in detail is a very different thing. The Audi RS Q8 is an extremely expensive car, costing well north of $100,000 in the US. For that money, it better be more than just fast, it’d better feel pretty special.

In this new video from Joe Achilles, we get to see the Audi RS Q8 in close up detail. He shows off the exterior styling, its interior bits, its practicality and what it’s like to drive. What’s interesting is the Achilles is typically a BMW fan, owning a couple BMWs, but he seems to like the RS Q8.

It’s not hard to see why, either. The Audi RS Q8 is one of those cars that, as car enthusiasts, you almost hate to love. Thanks to its 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, it’s brutally fast. But it’s also remarkably capable in the corners, considering it lapped the Nurburgring in just over 7:42 seconds. That makes it the fastest recorded SUV to ever lap the Nordschliefe.

So despite the absurdity of it being a two-and-a-half-ton SUV with almost 600 hp and a sloping roofline, it’s actually a surprisingly charming car. Of course, we’d all take the RS6 Avant over it without blinking but, if you absolutely needed an SUV, we wouldn’t knock you for taking the Audi RS Q8 because it’s a riot.
