Over the past couple of months, Audi Sport has exploded, launching new models into the market left and right. So far, there have been five new models; the Audi RS7 Sportback, RS6 Avant, RS Q3, RS Q3 Sportback and the newly announced RS4 Avant Facelift. However, we were promised six new Audi Sport models by the end of the year, so there’s still one left to go. We already know what it is — the Audi RS Q8 and it should be debuting at the LA Auto Show in November.
It only makes sense for the Audi RS Q8 to launch in LA next month. For starters, it’s just about one month from the end of the year, so it’s already cutting it close to Audi Sport’s proposed deadline. But the LA Auto Show is also just a great place to show off such a car.
Los Angeles County is home to Beverly Hills, where massively expensive and flashy SUVs are the most popular forms of transportation. What is the Audi RS Q8? A massively expensive and flashy SUV. So it’s perfect for the LA crowd.
Audi also teased such a thing already. In the press release for the newly facelifted RS4 Avant, there’s a photo with the five aforementioned Audi Sport cars that have recently been revealed. Among them is a long car kept in the shadows and it’s the RS Q8. With the LA Auto Show being the only major show for the rest of the year, it’s not hard to put two and two together.
When it does finally debut, the Audi RS Q8 will pack a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 that will likely make around 591 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. While nothing is confirmed, that’s the same engine configuration and spec as the Audi RS6 and RS7, so we can expect the RS Q8 to follow. All we know for sure is that we’ll find out next month.
