ABT has been making the headlines lately with its wild RS6-R package for the new RS6 Avant, but the German tuner has prepared upgrade kits for a variety of other RS models. Case in point, the Kempten-based aftermarket specialist also has an array of tweaks tailored to a new entry in Audi Sport’s lineup, the RS Q3 Sportback.
Finished in Daytona Gray Pearl Effect, this particular car was just about to be handed over to its rightful owner, but ABT got in touch with Auditography to shoot the hot crossover before delivery. The RS Q3 Sportback was filmed on the tuner’s home turf in Kempten, showing off the custom 20-inch GR wheels with an all-black look.
The Audi RS3 Sportback on stilts also had a new coilover suspension by ABT, but the most notable upgrade was underneath the hood. That’s where the turbocharged inline-five engine resides, no longer producing the series 400 horsepower and 480 Newton-meters (354 pound-feet) of torque. With the ABT Power upgrade installed, the 2.5-liter unit was bumped by 40 hp and 40 Nm (29 lb-ft) courtesy of an ECU remap.
As a result of the added muscle, the RS Q3 Sportback can hit a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h) after doing 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.3 seconds. These are some impressive figures from a small crossover with a compact engine compared to the beefier V6 and V8 models in Audi Sport’s vast portfolio.
Some refer to the RS Q3 in the Sportback body style as a baby Lamborghini Urus since it adopts a similar swoopy roofline while offering some serious performance. This amped-up version by ABT unlocks some extra oomph, and while it’s still no raging bull, it does give the driver an idea of what it would be like to own Sant’Agata Bolognese’s speedy crossover, for a fraction of the price.
