Audi Recalls airbags on A6, A7 and A3

Audi has recently issued a recall on the A6 and A7 sedans as well as the A3 Cabriolet for airbag related issues.

Audi will be rolling out this recall in two stages. First, 2012-2013 A6 sedans with manufacturing dates between March 28, 2011 and March 25, 2013 as well as 2012-2013 A7 sedans with manufacturing dates between January 25, 2011 and March 19, 2013. This totals up to be 21,978 vehicles.

It’s not as extreme of an issue as it sounds, as there have been no reported incidents of the airbags not deploying or malfunctioning, but it is a possibility. Apparently, in cars with heated and cooled seats, the Passenger Occupant Detection system can fail to detect a person in the seat, causing the airbag to not deploy in the event of a crash.

Audi will be rolling out this recall this coming February.

There will also be recall for 904 Audi A3 Cabriolets that could have the incorrect stitching on their seats, which could also lead to the airbag failing to deploy. Dealers will replace the seatback covers to fix this issue, also starting in February.
