Audi of America released this week on its official YouTube account a video with the Audi R8 V10 Plus in which they demonstrate the “evolution on the outside, revolution on the inside.” The range-topping R8 version never gets old even though a whole new generation is right around the corner, with an official launch scheduled to occur sometime next year.
The Plus version was added to the Audi R8 range back in mid-2012 when the facelifted model came out carrying a number of enhancements. Without any doubt the highlight of this model is represented by the uprated naturally aspirated V10 5.2 FSI engine which manages to deliver no less than 550 PS (404 kW) and a maximum torque of 540 Nm.
Its powerful beating heart allows the model to conquer the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in only 3.5 seconds en route to a top speed of 197 mph (317 km/h). The engine works with a 7-speed S tronic gearbox that channels all that power to Audi’s reputable quattro all-wheel drive system. Compared to the regular V10 model, the Audi R8 V10 Plus derivative does the 0-62 mph sprint 0.1 seconds quicker and has a 3 mph (4 km/h) higher top speed.
The Audi R8 V10 Plus will likely live on onto the second generation of the car which is said to continue with the naturally aspirated V8 4.2 and V10 5.2 engines but later during the car’s lifespan there will be a smaller turbocharged motor.
