Audi R8 Spyder Spied At Nurburgring

The first-gen Audi R8 was one of the best looking and most exciting supercars in the world. It almost seemed impossible for the R8 to gain any more excitement. Well, as it turns out, the Audi R8 became a lot more exciting with the removal of the roof. The drop-top Spyder version of the Audi R8 was glorious, as the sound of the roaring engine behind your head was so much louder and more pronounced. There aren’t many things as exciting as having a 5.2 liter V10 burble and scream directly behind you. So, because of the joy that the previous Audi R8 Spyder brought, it wasn’t going to be long before Audi released a Spyder version of the second-gem R8.

The second-gen R8 is fantastic looking and one of the best looking cars on the road. Removing the top will make it look even better. Being that the new Audi R8 can only be had with a V10 engine, the noise in the Spyder version will be incredible. So it’s obvious that the Spyder version is coming soon. And it turns out that it might be coming sooner than we thought.

Autoblog has recently spotted the second-generation Audi R8 Spyder testing at the Nurburgring. From what we can tell in the spy shots, the Audi R8 Spyder will have the same fabric power-folding soft top as the previous model and will look similar as well. The folding soft top is welcome, as the trend of supercars gaining metal folding tops has been becoming more popular. These metal roofs just add unnecessary weight and complications, whereas a soft top is simple, easy and light.

The Audi R8 is already one of the most desirable cars on the road, chopping the top off only makes it even more so. The extra noise and excitement of the Spyder will make the Audi R8 one of the best supercars on the road.
