Audi R8 GT Spyder stolen in Germany from dealer

Bad news coming from Germany where a limited edition Audi R8 GT Spyder along with two other high-end automobiles were stolen from a dealership. The incident took place on the night between Friday and Saturday in Mönchengladbach at Pegasus dealer and the car was last seen on Saturday morning at 4:30 AM being driven on the A61 road probably on its way to Köln. There isn’t any info available at the moment of writing which could help the police catch the thieves.

The matte blue Audi R8 GT Spyder seen here is one of the 333 units ever produced as this model was an exclusive limited edition which came out in 2011. 50 of these cars were commercialized in United States for a starting price of $210,000 whereas at home in Germany the vehicle was priced at €207,800.

Compared to the R8 V10 5.2 Spyder upon which is based, this limited-run variant sits 10mm lower and can be visually distinguished by its rear diffuser, rear wing and front spoiler which were all manufactured from carbon fiber to lower the vehicle’s weight. In addition, it features tinted headlights benefiting from LED technology while the matte blue paint is complemented by titanium gray accents.

Tipping the scales at 1,640 kg, the Audi R8 GT Spyder is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 naturally-aspirated engine rated at 560 HP and 540 Nm channeled to the quattro all-wheel drive system via a six-speed R tronic transmission. It will do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 3.8 seconds before topping out at 197 mph (317 km/h).
