March Lech Photography had the opportunity to perform a photo session with a limited edition Audi R8 GT equipped with HRE Wheels. The R8 in its standard form is a very attractive car but this particular GT variant looks outstanding with the aftermarket wheels and a lovely two-tone exterior body scheme. Besides looking great, the GT version is also 100 kg lighter than the R8 V10 Coupe upon which is based, meaning that it tips the scales at 1,525 kg.
The significant diet was possible by installing a thinner glass for the windshield, a lighter fixed rear wing, as well as a different rear hatch, side blades and rear bumper manufactured from carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP). The carbon fiber ceramic brake discs received aluminum caps which shaved off a total of 4 kg.
Motivation comes from the same V10 5.2-liter engine delivering 560 PS, up from the regular 525 PS thanks to a remapped ECU. All that power is sent to a quattro all-wheel drive system handling a maximum torque of 540 Nm. The Audi R8 GT will do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) journey in 3.6 seconds before topping out at 199 mph (320 km/h) and comes fitted with a six-speed sequential manual R Tronic gearbox.
Audi produced only 333 units of the model and each carried a starting price in Germany of €193,000.
