In the world of digital renders sky is the limit so it doesn’t come as a surprise that someone decided to envision the Audi R8 Spyder with a front-engine layout. Needless to say, it’s unlikely that sometime in the future Audi’s highly experienced engineers will decide to rethink their flagship supercar and install the engine at the front but it’s still fun to see how such a model will look like.
As you would imagine, the render is based on the outgoing Audi R8 Spyder and has received a considerably longer hood in order to make sufficient room for the engine compartment. The overall length has significantly increased and you can easily see that by checking out the profile of the car with those side vents sending out a bit of an American muscle car vibe.
The first generation of the Audi R8 will soon be phased out as a new model will be introduced likely before the end of the year, with sales to commence late 2014 or early 2015. It will ride on the same platform as the Lamborghini Huracan and will continue with the same V8 and V10 engines but Audi has already confirmed sometime in the future the R8 will receive a twin turbocharged V6 which will likely find its way under the hood of the next-gen RS4 / RS5.
