The Audi Q8 has been speculatively rendered prior to a market introduced which has already been confirmed to occur in 2019. Basically Ingolstadt’s answer to the BMW X6, the first ever Q8 model will take the shape of a “Q7 Coupe” which means it will come with a more sloped roofline to create a sportier profile. However, the more inclined roof will lower the available of rear headroom while the capacity of the trunk is also expected to decrease as a result of the body change.
The Audi Q8 will have an overall length of more than five meters and will weigh approximately 2,000 kg for the entry-level variant. It will be based on the second generation Q7 but with a more emotional and sporty design according to the company’s R&D boss Ulrich Hackenberg.
According to a few reports, Audi is cooking up a range-topping RS Q8 version to go up against the BMW X6 M. If this turns out to be true, expect the model to make use of an upgraded twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine while an SQ8 could also be in the works with a turbodiesel engine benefitting from e-turbo technology.
We don’t know how much it will cost but needless to say it will be pricier than the Q7.
