It was more than a month ago when we saw the first teaser for the Audi Q6 and now the German marque has released more details about the upcoming model. Set to become a fully electric crossover, the model is programmed to come out sometime in 2018 and according to Audi CEO Rupert Stadler it will be “sexy” and “sporty” as well as “packed with utility. The model of the name has not been announced yet, but most likely it will wear the Q6 moniker.
At the ongoing Auto Shanghai show in China, Stadler said the crossover will be able to cover at least 500 km (310 miles) before the battery pack will be depleted. He estimates the infrastructure for electric vehicles is going to be ready by 2018-2019 when the car will hit the market and he believes the advancements in battery tech will make the aforementioned range possible.
Aside from talking about the Audi Q6, Rupert Stadler also reiterated the company’s plans on coming out with a more luxurious Q model which will sit above the Q7. Likely labeled Q8, the model in question will serve as a direct adversary for the Range Rover SVAutobiography and will go on sale in the years to come.
