The Audi Q6 has been teased and it will take the shape of a fully electric crossover. It won’t come out sooner than the end of 2017 and is expected to adopt an electric powertrain similar to what the R8 e-tron will offer. However, while the electric supercar will have a range of around 280 miles, the less aerodynamic Q6 will be able to run on electric power for up to 185 miles before running out of battery juice.
Audi’s research and development boss Ulrich Hackenberg announced during the annual press conference that the Q6 is currently being developed and that the design will be influenced by the Prologue concept car. It will ride on the MLB platform and is going to be positioned as an adversary for the Range Rover Sport, BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz MLC. Needless to say, it will also go head to head with the upcoming Tesla Model X.
Hackenberg went on to specify the Q6 is going to be more emotional and sportier than the Q7 and will be more coupe-like. The Audi Q6 e-tron is going to have electric motor powering both axles which means it will adopt an electrified quattro all-wheel drive layout.
