It is believed an Audi Q6 concept will be introduced in September this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Set on to take the upcoming Tesla Model X, the first ever Q6 crossover will apparently be previewed at IAA this fall before the production version will be introduced sometime in 2018. The Ingolstadt-based automaker has already described the model as being not only “sporty” but also “sexy” and they also say it’s going to be “packed with utility.”
From what we know so far, the vehicle will utilize the second generation of the MLB platform and will benefit from an “extreme aerodynamic styling” which make the vehicle stand out in Audi’s lineup as the report say it will adopt a rather distinctive design. The company has previously announced it will come with a large battery pack providing enough juice for a range in excess of 500 km (310 miles).
Audi CEO Rupert Stadler said a while back their plan is to make at least 10,000 units per year as anything below this number wouldn’t represent a viable business case for the brand.
It remains to be seen whether the Audi Q6 concept will be shown in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and some voices are saying the crossover will eventually spawn plug-in hybrid and hydrogen variants.
