Audi just recently started making hybrids and EVs. Sure, the A3 e-tron was on sale for a few years but it was, quite frankly, terrible. Plus, it barely sold during its few years of existence, so we’re sort of just overlooking its existence. Now, though, the four-ringed brand is actually making some good electrified cars. One of which is the new Audi Q5 TFSI e Quattro.
However, this new Audi Q5 hybrid has some tough competition, competition from brands that have been doing hybrids for a lot longer. One of those competitors is the new Volvo XC60 T8.
While the XC60 T8 is quite new, Volvo has been making hybrids for quite some time and has gotten good at it. So does Audi’s newcomer have what it takes to take on the established Volvo? Auto Express recently found out.
According to AE, the Volvo is still the better car. The Audi Q5 TFSI e is a good car, and AE’s pick of the Q5 model range. It’s smooth, refined, nice to drive and extremely well made. But it’s not nearly as efficient as the Volvo which sort of the while point of buying a hybrid. The Volvo XC60 T8 is also more practical than the Q5, making it the better family vehicle.
Its a narrow victory, according to AE, but it’s a victory nevertheless. Still, it’s a good first effort from Audi to make such a compelling hybrid SUV. And, if it was going up against almost hey other hybrid SUV in or around its price, it’d almsot certainly be the winner.
This is a good start for Audi, when it comes to electrification. The four-ringed brand has had a lot of success with its other electric cars as of let, inculcation the e-tron and e-tron GT. So we’re expecting this new hybrid SUV is no different.
