Audi Q4 e-tron Was Norway’s Best-Selling EV for January 2022

Norway is the electric vehicle capital of the world and has been since the widespread introduction of EVs. The beautiful Scandinavian country has been quick to adopt EVs and has the highest percentage of EV sales of any market, globally. So it’s no surprise that the Audi Q4 e-tron is selling well in Norway already. What is surprising, though, is that the Q4 e-tron was just the best-selling car in Norway for January 2022.

First, what’s shocking is the sheer percentage of EV sales in Norway, where 6,659 of its 7,959 new cars sold in the month of January were electric. That’s a whopping 83.7 percent of all new cars sold last month, proving that Norwegians are the most EV-loving people in the world. Of those 6,659 EVs sold in Norway last month, 643 of them were Audi Q4 e-trons. While the Q4 e-tron is often criticized in most enthusiast-driven comparison tests, for its lack of range and relatively boring drive, it seems to sit well with customers.

Not only was the Audi Q4 e-tron the best selling EV in Norway last month but it was the best by a decent margin. The second best-selling EV last month was the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which sold 477 units, and the BMW iX was behind that with 444 units. So the Audi Q4 e-tron sold 25 percent more than the next best-selling EV. Not bad for a rebadged VW ID.4, huh?

Speaking of ID.4, the Audi Q4 e-tron’s Volkswagen sibling only found 389 homes in Norway last month, quite a bit behind the Audi, despite being cheaper. Which goes to show just how much more enjoyable the Audi Q4 e-tron is to drive and own than the VW ID.4. Not only does it look significantly better, its interior is far better, its tech is easier to use, and it’s nicer to drive.

The Audi Q4 e-tron is far from perfect, and it has its glaring issues (lack of range, rear drum brakes, dull drive), but it seems to be well-rounded enough to find some customers.
