With coupe-like SUVs being all the rage in the US market at the moment, we were pretty confident that the Audi Q3 Sportback would make its way across the Atlantic. Us ‘Mericans love our sporty looking crossovers, which is why we buy tons of cars like the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe and the Audi Q8. The latter of which is becoming incredibly popular in my area. However, for some reason, Audi has decided not to bring over the sportier version of the upcoming Q3.
According to Motor Authority, an Audi Spokesperson has confirmed that the Audi Q3 Sportback will not be making its way to North America. Though, oddly, no reason was given.
It’s interesting that Audi would decided to deny the North American market the Q3 Sportback. In its class, North America has a few cars currently on sale. Cars like the BMW X2, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class and even the Jaguar E-Pace, if you consider that a sportier crossover, all steal sales from this segment. So you’d think Audi would want a slice of that pie.
We will be getting the standard Audi Q3, of course, and that’s good because it’s a promising little crossover. But fans who were looking forward to a sportier looking version with semi-Q8 styling will only be met with disappointment.
Admittedly, we’ll still be getting the Audi RS Q3 in America and that’s really all that matters. With its 2.5 liter turbocharged five-cylinder and 400 fire-spitting horsepowers, who cars what body style it wears?
If you’re in Europe, you will be getting the Audi Q3 Sportback and you won’t have to wait too long to see what it looks like. In just over a month, the sportier sibling to the standard Audi Q3 will be debuted to the public, as it’s slated for a July reveal.
