If you aren’t aware of Silvercar, it’s a rental car service that only rents out silver Audi A4s and has been around since 2012. It’s a rental company we wrote about awhile back and one that’s been growing in popularity for some time. So much so, in fact, that Audi now plans on buying the entire company.
Audi actually already owned a small, minority share in Silvercar. But now the four-ringed brand plans on fully acquiring 100 percent of the rental company. “Audi and Silvercar share the same vision,” said Dietmar Voggenreiter, Board Member for Sales and Marketing of Audi. “We want to open up a new, flexible way to access mobility for our customers while offering premium quality in every respect. Now we are joining forces and, together, are driving our initiative for innovative mobility services forward.”
Especially now that Audi has just launched a new A4, this seems like a great way to get butts in Audi seats. The largest aspect of Silvercar’s portfolio is its presence in US airports. The more customers that use this service at airports the more people will be exposed to the Audi brand. And if you haven’t been in the new Audi A4, it’s quite the charmer. So this could really help bring new customers to the Audi brand.
Silvercar is based in Austin, Texas and now has 15 locations throughout the country. Audi and Silvercar plan on working together to expand their rental offerings to customers throughout the United States.
