At the end of last month, Audi opened up a brand new complex in Neuburg an der Donau, a massive 47-hectare site located about 20 km from the firm’s headquarters in Ingolstadt. A total of 460 employees will work at this site which accommodates the Competence Center Motorsport with Audi Sport customer racing as well as the Audi driving experience center plus functions of the Technical Development division.
Audi says they are making a high double-digit investment in the site which hosts the aforementioned Competence Center Motorsport in a modern building that is 300 meters long and 100 meters wide. It benefits from a test-bench building, workshops and a warehouse logistics hall together with the main building that has the engineering offices.
This new complex adopts the principle of short distances as the engineering offices are situated on the same floor as the workshops where Audi is developing its next-gen performance technologies for racing cars which will eventually find their way into road-legal models. It should be mentioned that the Audi Sport customer racing team will move to this new site next spring while the Technical Development division will be carrying test drives at the Audi Neuburg site.
Starting late October, Audi Sport is going to organize and coordinate from Neuburg all production activities related to the firm’s racing in WEC and DTM.
