German marque Audi has unveiled online today the A3 1.4 TFSI ultra that can be had in one of the four body styles available (sedan, three-door, five-door Sportback and cabriolet). All of them are powered by a four-cylinder, 1.4-liter TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine that is capable of outputting 150 PS. Fitted onto the three-door version, the vehicle will need only 8.1 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint and it will keep on accelerating until it hits a top speed of 220 km/h.
More importantly, the Audi A3 1.4 TFSI ultra has a very low fuel consumption of 4.7 liters / 100 km (50 mpg US or 60.1 mpg UK) in the combined cycle, with corresponding CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km. The engine benefits from cylinder on demand technology and can be had with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed S tronic transmission.
Customers who put fuel consumption as a top priority might want to know that Audi is also offering an ultra version of the A3 with a 1.6 TDI engine delivering 110 PS. It allows the model to consume only 3.3 liters / 100 km (71.3 mpg US or 85.6 mpg UK) and have CO2 emissions of 88 g/km.
Besides the A3 1.4 TFSI ultra and A3 1.6 TDI ultra, no less than 12 other ultra models with TDI and TFSI engines are available within the A4, A5, A6 and A7 lineup, bringing up the total of ultra models to an impressive 22.
