Having opened dealers across the country at the beginning of the month, Audi UK figured it would be the right time to reveal the new brand ambassador. It’s none other than 57-year-old Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho and currently the head coach of Tottenham Hotspur. The football team signed a deal with Audi back in 2018 for a four-year agreement making Audi the Official Car Partner.
What better way for Jose Mourinho to celebrate the tie-up if not by taking delivery of a shiny new Audi? His car of choice is a black Q8 in the 50 TDI specification, which he actually picked up right at the Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre. If you’re living in the UK, you’ll be seeing more of ex-Manchester United coach from June 17 when Premier League returns after the hiatus forced by the coronavirus pandemic.
Talking about the newly signed deal, Jose Mourinho said: “It is a great privilege to become an Audi ambassador. It is a luxury brand with a phenomenal reputation for quality, technology and safety around the world. Audi UK has been a great partner to my club, and I look forward to working with them myself.”
Audi is a strong supporter of several football teams, including Red Bull Salzburg in Austria and RSC Anderlecht in Belgium. By far the most important partnership is at home in Germany with FC Bayern München as the two have been collaborating since 2002. At the beginning of this year, the partnership was extended until 2029.
It’s not just football (or how Americans call it, soccer). Audi is also involved in winter sports considering it’s been the principal sponsor of the German Ski Association for more than 30 years. In addition, Audi has been the main sponsor of the FIS Cross Country and Ski Jumping World Cup since the end of 2013.
Not only that, but Audi has been involved in golf for more than 20 years and even in mountain biking events, along with basketball and other sports on a regional level.
