The A3 clubsport quattro concept was revealed only about two weeks ago and already Audi has made a connection between the concept and the eagerly anticipated next generation RS3. Audi Australia product planner, Matthew Dale, characterized the vehicle as “a view into the future of the RS.” In other words, the next-gen RS3 will likely take the form of a sedan once it will be introduced in the following months, probably before the end of the year.
However, while the A3 clubsport quattro concept pumps out a jaw-dropping 500 PS and 600 Nm of torque, the RS3 Sedan will be considerably toned down to become more suitable for a production model. Matthew specified that the vehicle “can get well over 300 kW” which means potential customers should expect a power figure of somewhere in the region of 408 PS.
Needless to say, output will be provided by Audi’s iconic five-cylinder, 2.5-liter TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine that will likely work with a seven-speed S tronic transmission delivering all that power to the quattro AWD system.
We won’t be too surprised if Audi will decide to introduce the next generation RS3 at the beginning of October during the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Sales should commence either by the end of the year or early 2015.
