A first generation Audi R8 GT is currently being showcased at Audi Forum Neckarsulm in Germany.
Even though the car is more than four years old, it still looks magnificent and this particular satin white example looks as if it’s brand new. It’s one of the 333 units ever made and when it came out it carried an exorbitant starting price in Germany of €193,000. Compared to the standard R8 available at that time, the GT was 100 kg lighter as it tipped the scales at 1,525 kg while the 5.2-liter V10 was further tweaked to unleash 560 PS (412 kW) sent to a quattro AWD system through an R Tronic transmission.
It still manages to be a properly quick machine as the Audi R8 GT runs the 0-100 km/h sprint in as little as 3.6 seconds while the 0-200 km/h journey takes 10.8 seconds before topping out at 320 km/h.
Coincidentally, the first production-spec Audi R8 GT was delivered to its customer at Audi Forum Neckarsulm where this lovely example will be showcased until October 27.
The second generation R8 just came out, so it will be a while until the first derivatives will hit the market. Chances are the first of the bunch will be a Spyder version due to hit dealerships in the second half of next year. It’s not known at this point whether Audi has plans for a new GT version which in the previous generation was also available as a Spyder.
