Audi Forum Neckarsulm recently had on display an RS3 dressed up as a Le Mans safety car. This year’s edition brought a podium finish for the Audi R18 e-tron quattro driven by Lotterer/Fassler/Treluyer who came in third after the Porsche 919 Hybrid race cars driven by Hulkenberg/Tandy/Bamber and Webber/Hartley/Bernhard, respectively.
Even though Audi failed to take the win once again this year, they certainly received a lot of media exposure and this RS3 from Audi Sport wearing a safety car livery was one of the attractions. It’s a 367 PS machine which makes it the second most powerful compact hatchback in the world and comes exclusively in the five-door Sportback body with a quattro all-wheel drive system and a 7-speed S tronic transmission.
The RS3 kicks off at €52,700 at home in Germany, but if you want those five-arm rotor design 19-inch alloys you’ll have to pay an extra €700. Needless to say, you won’t be able to order your RS3 with the special safety car Le Mans livery, nor with the additional lighting on the roof and on the central lower bumper area while the metallic white paint is an additional €690.
We mentioned it’s available in a Sportback-only flavor, but chances are the US-spec model due later this year will take the shape of a sedan, although a confirmation is not available at this point.
