Audi is first Euro marque offering online navigation updates

Audi has announced they are the first among European car manufacturers to provide online navigation updates. The service is currently available for the A6 and A7 Sportback models which are equipped with the Audi connect system now allowing owners to use the “online map update” service which will download the latest map updates through an LTE connection.

The service can be accessed by using MMI navigation plus and those who prefer to get the updates the old fashioned way by using a computer can go to www.audi.de/myaudi where the myAudi platform can be found. At this source, users can obtain the necessary map data and transfer it onto an SD card which will be inserted in the car to install the update. If this is too much of a hassle for you, there’s also the possibility of going to your local Audi dealership for the necessary installation.

Whenever online navigation updates are available, the driver of an Audi A6 or A7 Sportback will receive a notification and these will be provided once every six months, with the first five of them being free of charge. The user has the possibility of updating the entire European map or select individual regions. While performing the map update, the navigation system will continue to function without any sort of restrictions.
