Audi has announced they will bring three R18 e-tron quattro cars to this year’s edition of the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race. The Selection Committee of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) has accepted all the nominations submitted by Audi for the 83rd edition of the race which will take place on June 13 and 14.
During a press conference held in Paris, ACO published the entry list of all 56 participants and thanks to the fact that Audi won last year at Le Mans they have been guaranteed a place on the grid in the LMP1 class. In this year’s race, the Audi R18 e-tron quattro #7 will be driven by last year’s winning team consisting of Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer, Benoît Tréluyer.
The two other nominations were submitted by the Audi Sport Team (Lucas di Grassi, Loïc Duval, Oliver Jarvis) which is going to field the Audi R18 e-tron quattro #8 while Filipe Albuquerque, Marco Bonanomi and new signing René Rast will be racing in the #9 car.
As a final note, Tom Kristensen has been appointed as “Grand Marshal” of this year’s edition of the 24-hour endurance race at Le Mans.
