Audi has announced they are expecting electronics and digital features to become equally important as horsepower. According to the company’s sales chief Luca de Meo, by the end of the decade 50% of value creation is going to be based on software, apps, digital services and electronic systems. Speaking at CES Asia 2015, de Meo went on to specify the opportunities are “endless” in this area.
This announcement comes after last week’s reveal that Audi is open to other automakers joining a group bidding for the Nokia Oyj’s HERE digital map division. Parent company Volkswagen disclosed plans last year to boost adaptation of technology in upcoming models and a few days ago VW said its proprietary Car-Net system will encompass apps for on-board use of the owner’s smartphone/tablet running on the Android Auto system developed by Google or the CarPlay belonging to Apple, with both of them offering support for voice recognition.
