An Audi representative has said the company estimates they will become Australia’s top-selling luxury brand. According to Audi Australia managing director Andrew Doyle, it is not a question of “if” but “when” the company will achieve this status as they have what it takes to catch up and surpass their rivals BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
He says Audi has achieved a significantly higher growth rate while Mercedes’ growth has stabilized and BMW has gone down. Asked by Motoring when Audi will take become Australia’s top-selling luxury brand, Doyle refused to specify an exact date but he did say Audi has a long-term strategy which includes ambitious goals.
It was back in September when the local general manager for corporate communications Anna Burgdorf said Audi will attempt to overtake BMW starting next year when a new model roll-out is being planned. She added that 2015 is not an objective to surpass BMW but in 2016 “we’d like to be nipping at the heels.”
Audi has high hopes the all-new A4 will help them take the crown for Australia’s top-selling luxury brand once the model will be introduced sometime in 2015. Also helping boost sales is a newly established Audi Center Melbourne in the center of the city which cost 25 million AUD and represents the company’s second biggest dealership after the one in Dubai.
