Every year, a very popular GTI Meet is held at the stunning Lake Wörthersee, Austria. Volkswagen Group brands are often in attendance and Audi will be making an appearance this year with a unique twist. Rather than show off the high-performance Audi R8 V10 RWS or the uber-luxurious Audi A8, the four-ringed brand is going to show off two different electric cars. One of them will be the upcoming Audi e-tron.
The brand’s new all-electric SUV, shod in its high-tech looking digital camo, will make an appearance in Lake Wörthersee among all of the slammed, tuned and modded VW Group products. Not only that, but the Audi e-tron will be towing the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo concept car, an all-electric race car that was developed alongside its Gran Turismo video game counterpart.
Audi wants to show off the versatility of its upcoming e-tron SUV, so as to prove that it isn’t just some techy EV but an actual SUV that can be used in everyday life. Audi will even offer a trailer hitch as an optional extra on the e-tron, so customers with boats or trailers will have no issue using their electric SUV in their active lifestyle.
The Audi e-tron SUV will be fully electric and have 400 km (248.5 miles) of range from its 95 kW battery pack. Thanks to three electric motors, two for the rear axle and one for the front, it will also make 496 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to get from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. That’s faster than an Audi S5 in a two-ton electric SUV. Not too shabby. We don’t know what its towing capacity is but it’s likely a lot, thanks to electric torque and durability. Also, it’s towing an electric race car and trailer, so it has to be enough to do that.
If you have a chance to attend the GTI Meet in Lake Wörthersee, which will run May 9 — 12, do it. Not only will you see awesome cars and beautiful scenery but you’ll also see an all-electric Audi SUV towing an all-electric Audi race car that’s based on a concept car from video game…
