The term “Sportback” was reserved up until not long ago to hatchbacks of various sizes, either small ones like the A1 and A3 or larger vehicles such as the A5 and A7. Audi recently decided to expand its use to include SUVs as well, specifically the ones that have a more sloped roofline. Relevant examples include the Q3 Sportback, E-Tron Sportback, with a Q5 Sportback coming soon. Today we’re talking about the electric SUV, specifically this E-Tron Sportback S Line.
A more stylish take on the regular E-Tron, the zero-emissions Sportback has been filmed by euromandriver / YouTube at an Audi dealership in Sweden in the beefier 55 Quattro specification and the S Line flavor. While the SUV’s styling is a variation of the “Q” models, the side cameras are a dead giveaway we’re dealing with something a bit more special. Open the doors and those screens embedded into the door cards are features you won’t find in any other Audi. Well, the conventionally styled E-Tron has them as well, but you get the idea.
If you’ve been in the latest models to carry the Four Rings, the interior layout should seem quite familiar. There are a few bits and pieces exclusive to the E-Tron models, but it’s essentially the same cabin you’ll find on a conventionally powered SUV from Audi. That’s not to say Audi should have done things differently as the electric SUV looks impressively upscale on the inside, especially this E-Tron Sportback S Line.
Audi also sells a more affordable 50 Quattro variant in Europe with less power and is gearing up to introduce a hotter tri-motor E-Tron Sportback S for those in need of more oomph. For the time being, the 55 Quattro is the only version of the electric SUV you can have in the United States where it costs $77,300. The model was recently rated by EPA at 218 miles of range, perfectly matching Audi’s own estimate.
