Audi e-tron GT will make official reveal at 2020 LA Auto Show

The 2019 LA Auto Show was a big one for Audi. No less than five new four-ringed cars debuted in LA, all of which were big, important reveals. Among the reveals were the Audi RS6 Avant, RS7 Sportback, RS Q8, S8 and e-tron Sportback, all of which made big waves in LA. However, Audi will make an even bigger splash at next-year’s LA Auto Show and it will do it with just one car — the Audi e-tron GT.

When asked about the upcoming Audi e-tron GT in LA, an Audi representative couldn’t give out any specific information. However, he did say that next year Audi will be showing off a brand new, all-electric “sexy sedan”.

A few months back, that same Audi rep told me that the Audi e-tron GT would make its debut before December 2020. Considering that the LA Auto Show is in November, next year’s show would fit perfectly in that time-frame. So it’s quite clear that the e-tron GT will be dawning next year in LA.

To further confirm this date, Audi’s head designer Marc Lichte hinted something similar to Autocar, saying “in one more year here we will present our coupé”. While the Audi e-tron GT won’t be a coupe in the traditional sense, Germans love to call their sleek, sporty sedans “coupes”.

While next year’s LA Auto Show is a long ways away, considering that the 2019 show is just finishing up, the Audi e-tron GT will be worth the wait. Based on the same J1 architecture as the Porsche Taycan, the e-tron GT will be seriously fast, sharp to drive and damn good looking. In fact, after seeing the e-tron GT concept and the Taycan in person, I feel comfortable saying the Audi will be the better looking car. And that’s coming from a fan of the Taycan.

We can’t wait for the e-tron GT. It will be teased and hinted at throughout 2020 but we won’t see it officially until next year in Los Angeles.
