Audi e-tron GT Wins Golden Steering Wheel for Most Beautiful Car of the Year

Even the biggest EV critics have a hard time criticizing one aspect of the new Audi e-tron GT — it’s flipping gorgeous.  Marc Lichte and his team killed it with the e-tron GT’s design; it’s low, it’s long, it’s sleek, it’s muscular, it’s sexy. It’s likely the best looking electric car in the world at the moment and certainly among the best looking four-door cars of all. Don’t just take my word for it, though. The Audi e-tron GT just won the Golden Steering Wheel award for Most Beautiful Car of the Year.

The 45th Golden Steering Wheel awards recently took place on November, 9, at the Journalistenclub in Berlin’s Axel-Springer-Haus. There, the Audi e-tron GT was awarded the winner in the “Most Beautiful Car of the Year” category.

“In its design, the e-tron GT emphasizes our claim as an automotive design brand. With its impressive performance, it offers the most emotional kind of electromobility. And with its sustainable concept, it expresses an attitude. The e-tron GT is our flagship model,” said Audi CEO Markus Duesmann, who was presented with the award.

The Audi e-tron GT is about as close as you can get to a production-ready concept car as possible. When the e-tron GT Concept debuted a few years back, it stunned the world with its gorgeous design but few fans ever thought it would make it to production looking like the concept. Then Audi claimed the concept car was 90-percent production-ready and, even still, fans were skeptical. Production cars never look that close to the concepts on which they’re based. When the e-tron GT debuted, though, car enthusiasts the world over were pleasantly surprised.

As gorgeous as the Audi RS6 Avant and R8 V10 are, it’s the Audi e-tron GT — and its higher performance RS e-tron GT sibling — that stands above the rest. It’s a breathtakingly beautiful design that makes driving a four-door electric performance sedan even more exciting. And now you don’t have to take my word for it — it’s official.

I've been in love with cars since I was a kid, specifically German cars. Now I get to drive them talk about them on the internet.
