Audi e-tron can be up to $13,000 cheaper from Costco

The Audi e-tron isn’t selling as well as the four-ringed brand had hoped. It’s a good car, the e-tron, but it’s very expensive, lacks the long range of its rival from Tesla and hasn’t had the best history of reliability in its short time on sale. So it’s safe to say that the e-tron is struggling, as are Audi’s electric hopes along with it. However, the brand is working to help mitigate some of its issues, most notably it’s price.

Electric vehicles are heavily incentivised in America, with most EVs being eligible for a $7,500 tax break. However, in addition to that, Audi and Costco have teamed up to offer customers even bigger discounts on the Audi e-tron.

If you buy or lease your Audi e-tron through Costco’s Auto Program, before March 31, 2020, you could be in line for some huge discounts. For starters, Audi and Costco have paired up to offer a $2,000 cash bonus on all e-tron models, as well as an additional $500 Costco Cash Card if you complete an optional survey. Sweetening the pot even further is a $3,000 “Marketing Allowance” that Audi is giving some dealerships.

If you total those savings up, along with the $7,500 tax credit, you can get up to $13,000 off your new Audi e-tron. That drops its price from almost $75,000 to closer to $60,000, which is a huge drop and makes the e-tron’s range and performance far more attractive.

Admittedly, not everyone will get all of these discounts, specifically the $3,000 Marketing Allowance. If you want that full $13k off your sticker price, you’re going to have to call around to different dealerships in the Costco Autos Program to see which ones will allow it. To be honest, my guess is that very few are willing to do so, but it is an advertised deal so someone should honor it.

At that price point, the Audi e-tron becomes a much better buy. At almost $75,000 before destination normally, you’re talking about just about $80,000 out the door for new e-tron. That’s just too much for an electric car with only a touch over 200 miles of range. However, drop that price closer to $60,000 and it’s a far better deal. In fact, at $60,000-65,000, the Audi e-tron is one of the best luxury SUVs on the market.
