Good news coming from your favorite automaker as Audi has announced the upcoming all-electric Q6 will have a range of more than 500 km (310 miles) on a single charge. This will be possible by developing a new type of powerful battery in collaboration with Samsung SDI and LG Chem, but an exact launch date of the model has not been specified.
However, we do know a concept previewing the production car will show up next month in Frankfurt and that one will apparently employ a trio of electric motors pushing out 500 bhp and 517 lb-ft of torque. It will be a taste of what’s to come as unspecified sources close to Ingolstadt are saying the series production car will hit dealerships sometime in 2018.
There’s not much else we know about the car, but apparently it will source some of the bits and pieces from the Audi R8 e-tron which is programmed to go on sale in the months to come. The pure electric Q6 will allegedly be followed by plug-in hybrid and hydrogen versions while a conventional-powered model is not being planned, at least not in the foreseeable future.
Hopefully we’ll know more about the production car once the preview concept will arrive at IAA in mid-September.
