Audi of America president Scott Keogh has dropped a hint about the possibility of launching an RS3 Sedan. He attended a dinner event organized to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Audi Club of North America and hinted this could happen, something that shouldn’t come as a big surprise since Audi already previewed this move with the hardcore A3 clubsport quattro concept.
Let’s not forget that several prototypes of the next generation RS3 have been caught on camera testing with the five-door Sportback body style so we won’t be too surprised if Audi will decide to sell the model in two distinct body styles. Regardless of its shape, the high-performance compact model from Ingolstadt will have the iconic five-cylinder 2.5-liter turbo engine which has already been confirmed to develop somewhere in the region of 360 bhp (268 kW). However, a beefier 400 bhp (298 kW) variant is also being analyzed, possibly with the RS3 Plus designation.
As you would expect, the RS3 Sedan (or hatchback) will come with Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system that will likely work with the S tronic transmission, but a manual gearbox could also be planned as well.
We will know for sure in the first half of 2015 when the RS3 will be revealed, possibly in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
