An official teaser image of the Audi A9 concept has been published, prior to a public debut next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The concept will likely get a different name but according to various reports it will act as a preview for the A9 believed to arrive sometime in 2017. The concept was created in Ingolstadt at the company’s design center led by chief designer Marc Lichte.
He gave an interview to Auto & Design in which he shared some preliminary details about the appealing concept which showcases a sportier styling approach that will be seen in road-going cars in the near future. We should also expect to see a tweaked single-frame grille while the forthcoming production vehicles are going to feature a more “sculptural design” as seen on the Audi A9 concept teased right here.
The rumored Audi A9 is believed to use the MLB Evo platform and will spawn a more potent S9 model which is expected to come with a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine generating as much as 600 bhp (447 kW). Lesser versions will be offered with a twin-turbo V6 3.0-liter as well as V6 3.0-liter & V8 4.0-liter turbodiesel engines, while a plug-in hybrid is also in the works.
