Audi A6 is Motor Trend’s Best Midsize Luxury Sedan for 2020

This all-new Audi A6 seems to be the odd man out in Audi’s current lineup. While a good car, it’s had a bit of a rough start, reliability-wise, and it also seems to have been forgotten among the enthusiast market. However, it’s getting a bit of love from Motor Trend, who just rated it as their best midsize luxury sedan for 2020.

Here’s a bit of what MT had to say about the Audi A6: “Along with an incredibly quiet ride, the A6 boasts smooth powertrains and a comfortable back seat. Its class-leading interior features top-notch materials and a digital instrument cluster with high-resolution Google Earth images. If you’re looking for the hot rod of the family, the S6 delivers 444 horsepower from a twin-turbo V-6 engine. But no matter which version you choose, the best midsize luxury car to buy in 2020 has four rings up front.”

The A6 starts life at $54,000 in the US and that comes with a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 248 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with an eight-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive as-standard.  It’s also well-equipped, with the latest MMI system and LED headlights.

From everyone we’ve talked to that’s driven the new A6 (we haven’t yet), we hear great things about the way it drives. It’s said to be smooth, sophisticated, comfortable and agile. We don’t love its current crop of powertrains but the rest of the car is said to be great. Though, it’s also having some reliability issues. We’re wondering why the A6 specifically, is having these issues, as they don’t seem to be occurring on cars like the A7 — which is mechanically nearly identical — nearly as often. Maybe there are just some software and calibration tweaks that can be made to fix some of its reoccurring issues.

In the end, if you want the best driving, best handling and most high-tech car in the segment, at least according to Motor Trend, the Audi A6 is your car.
