Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept Debuting Tomorrow March 17

One of the very best looking concepts Audi’s ever made was the A6 e-tron Concept, an all-electric sedan designed to eventually replace the internal combustion-powered A6 sedan. Since its debut, we’ve wondered if/when Audi was going to announce a wagon version. Apparently, it’s tomorrow. The Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept will officially debut tomorrow, March 17 at 7:00 AM EDT.

Audi made the announcement on Twitter, with a photo of the A6 Avant e-tron Concept’s shadowy silhouette. Being cloaked in darkness, there’s not much to make out from its design but we can take a couple of cracks at it.

For starters, it’s going to be very low and long, giving it a sporty, athletic look for a wagon. You can see just a hint of its illuminated OLED lights cutting through the darkness. Its roofline tapers downward slightly toward the rear and its roof spoiler extends a bit past the D-pillar.

To be honest, despite its clandestine photo, it’s not hard to guess what the Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept will look like — it’s going to look like a wagon version of the A6 e-tron sedan. Which is no bad thing, the sedan version is gorgeous. Though, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, either.

It’s unclear whether Audi will be providing any more powertrain info for the A6 Avant e-tron. Thus far, Audi hasn’t provided much mechanical info about the A6 e-tron but it did provide some, including that it will have a dual-motor model with 496 horsepower (350 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. It’s also said to have a new battery pack, with the top-end model boasting 100 kWh and 700 km (434 miles) of range. Given that it will be built on Audi’s new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture, that’s no surprise. Additionally, 800-volt technology will remain, allowing it to charge at 270 kW, just like the e-tron GT.

The best part of this news, though, is what it might mean for the future. If Audi is working on an Avant version of the A6 e-tron, does that mean an Audi RS6 Avant e-tron is in the works? Please, someone tell us an Audi A6 Avant e-tron is in development because that would be absolutely killer, especially if it looks as sleek as this concept is going to look.
