Audi put on quite a good display at the 2016 LA Auto Show, showing off some of its best cars. Cars like the Audi R8 V10 Plus, Audi S8 Plus and plenty of RS models. However, the big news was the appearance of the Audi A5 and S5 Sportbacks.
The first-generation Audi A5 Sportback never made its way to the North American market, which made many American enthusiasts very unhappy. Not only was the A5 Sportback cool, different and good looking, but it was also far more practical than the coupe, as it had two more doors and a hatchback body style. This new second-generation looks even better and is far better in every single way. So American enthusiasts were praying for Audi to bring it across the Atlantic.
Thankfully, Audi heard our prayers and brought the A5 and S5 Sportback to the LA Auto Show, proving that it will officially go on sale in America. That news has excited Audi enthusiasts across the country.
The Audi A5 Sportback will essentially be the same as the A5 Coupe, but with a four-door hatchback body style. That means a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder 252 hp engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic automatic. It will also have Quattro all-wheel drive and genuinely sporty handling.
For the Audi S5 Sportback, it will pack a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 that will make 354 hp and will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, not the dual-clutch of the standard A5. That, though, will also power all four wheels and be even faster and sportier.
