CarBuyer has released a new video in which they compared the outgoing generation of the Audi A4 to the BMW 3-Series and the brand new Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The A4 B8 is on its way to a well-deserved retirement but it still manages to put up a good fight against the hot product of this segment right now, the C-Class W205 which CarBuyer considers as being the best of the bunch.
They praised the BMW 3-Series for being practical as its trunk has the widest opening among the three, while the headroom and legroom for those sitting on the rear seats is the biggest. Let’s not forget the 3-Series is about to receive a facelift (Life Cycle Impulse) which will bring some minor visual tweaks.
The Audi A4 is showing its age in comparison tests about which is the better car to drive, but all that should change in 2015 when the all-new A4 B9 will be launched. It is believed the overhauled A4 will be significantly lighter and will gain a plug-in hybrid derivative. In addition, the 1.4 TSI-powered model will benefit from cylinder deactivation technology while a rugged Allroad variant is also likely in the works.
Until then, the outgoing Audi A4 B8 is still a sensible choice for a German executive compact sedan which faces some stiff competition from its domestic rivals.
