The highly anticipated Audi A4 B9 is going to be introduced during a special presentation scheduled before this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The announcement was made by head of technical development Ulrich Hackenberg who specified the car will be shown before IAA which kicks off with the first press day on September 12. In other words, expect the new premium German sedan from Ingolstadt to be revealed either by the end of August or at the beginning of September.
The model is bound to ride on the second-gen MLB platform and despite growing in size it will actually lose some weight. Audi has decided to make the A4 bigger because they are now selling the A3 Sedan so there has to be a bigger gap between the two to avoid confusing customers.
The Audi A4 B9 will first come out in sedan form but a few months later the more practical Avant is going to be introduced. Sometime next year, the A5 lineup will be fully overhauled so expect a new coupe, cabriolet and Sportback. Needless to say, later during the A4’s life there’s going to be a new flagship RS4 mode which according to some reports it will use a twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine that will replace the current naturally aspirated V8 4.2 motor.
