German magazine Auto Bild has released a new spy video showing several camouflaged prototypes of the Audi A4 B9. We know for sure the new compact sedan from Ingolstadt will make its world premiere in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show where it will come with an estimated 100 kg (220 lbs) weight loss as a result of switching to a new platform.
There’s not much to talk about in terms of design as Audi has decided to play it safe so they have made only some mild tweaks to enable an evolutionary design to keep the car instantly recognizable. The interior cabin will suffer more extensive changes as it’s bound to feature interconnected air vents like on the second generation Q7 while the infotainment system will receive a free-standing display
The Audi A4 B9 will be offered with an extensive array of engines, kicking off with a 1.4 TFSI benefiting from cylinder on demand technology and producing 125 PS. There are also going to be 150 PS & 180 PS versions of the same engine while a 2.0 TFSI will have 190 PS and 245 PS. Audi is also preparing a hybrid verison with a 225 PS 2.0 TFSI engine teamed up with a 35 PS electric motor.
The most powerful gasoline engine on launch will be the 3.0 TFSI with 272 PS while on the diesel side we find a 1.6 TDI with 120 PS and a 2.0 TDI rated at 125 PS, 150 PS, 177 PS, 190 PS and 220 PS. The range-topping diesel will be a 3.0 TDI developing 260 PS while a diesel e-tron will have a 190 PS 2.0 TDI and a 136 PS electric motor.
It should be mentioned that all the information regarding engines are based on a report issued a few months ago and the power figures have not been confirmed so far by Audi, only for the 190 PS 2.0 TFSI engine.
