The Audi A4 B9 in both sedan and Avant guises has made a comeback in an extended trailer called “Emotion.” It’s been a long time in the making but Ingolstadt’s new compact premium model is finally here and for Audi fans it was probably worth the wait as despite the increased size providing a roomier cabin, the new generation has lost up to 120 kg compared to the old model.
Audi has played it safe in terms of the design and preferred to take the evolutionary route by implementing sharper lines to enable a sleeker look giving the new A4 a more upscale feel. It’s the same story inside the cabin where the most important change is the availability of an optional 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster while the biggest screen for the MMI infotainment system measures 8.3 inches. For more money, clients will be able opt for a dual set of 10.1-inch tablets part of the rear-seat entertainment system.
Upon launch, you will be able to place an order for the new A4 with a 1.4 TFSI engine rated at 150 PS & 250 Nm while the newly developed 2.0 TFSI can be had with 190 PS & 320 Nm or 252 PS & 370 Nm. On the diesel side, we find a 2.0 TDI with 150 PS & 320 Nm and 190 PS & 400 Nm along with a 3.0 TDI producing 218 PS & 400 Nm and 272 PS & 600 Nm.
Go for the Audi A4 B9 Avant and there’s a g-tron version with a 170 PS & 270 Nm 2.0 TFSI that can run on compressed natural gas (CNG). This one is great for long journeys as it will be able to travel for as much as 950 km if the CNG and gasoline tanks are full.
Sales of the new Audi A4 are scheduled to commence sometime this fall.
