The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron has made the journey to Morocco to visit one of the world’s biggest solar power plants. You probably have seen your fair share of promos for the plug-in hybrid A3 and this goes to show that Audi considers it one of its most important models and also a taste of what’s to come since plenty of other e-tron models are in the works.
On the outside it may look almost the same as a regular five-door A3 Sportback, but it’s underneath the skin where most of the changes have occurred as the familiar 1.4 TFSI engine works in this case with an electric motor. This hardware setup creates a car that’s both powerful and economical as the model packs a 204 hp & 258 lb-ft punch and consumes just 1.5 liters / 100 km. For short trips around the city, the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron can be a great solution as it can cover up to 50 km (31 miles) running solely on electric power.
In terms of performance, it’s actually a fairly quick car as the 0-100 km/h sprint takes 7.6 seconds and top speed stands at 222 km/h (138 mph) or 130 km/h (81 mph) when driving in electric mode.
It will be going on sale this fall in United States, with prices kicking off at $37,900 before you take into account any applicable incentives.
