The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron is now available in Australia where it carries a starting price of $62,490 MLP. Customers will be getting the first cars towards the end of the month and will be able to enjoy up to 50 km of pure electric range and a total range of as much as 920 km while in hybrid mode the fuel consumption will stand at an average of just 1.6 liters / 100 km, with corresponding CO2 emissions of 37 g/km.
When running in electric model, the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron can reach 60 km/h in 4.9 seconds before topping out at an electronically-capped 130 km/h whereas in hybrid mode it will do 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 222 km/h.
It’s all possible thanks to the powerful hybrid system which combines a 1.4 TFSI engine with an electric motor and a 7-speed S tronic gearbox. The conventional engine produces 110 kW whereas the electric motor delivers an extra 75 kW to give the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron a combined output of 150 kW and 350 Nm.
The on-board lithium-ion battery pack has an 8.8 kWh capacity and can be fully recharged in around two and a half hours. This AU-spec model comes generously equipped with goodies such as LED headlights, Audi Parking system plus, Audi drive select, Audi Music Interface, DAB+, MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Touch, Bluetooth (with audio streaming) and front sport seats with leather upholstery.
