Euro NCAP has released a couple of videos with the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron while undergoing the rigorous crash tests. The compact plug-in hybrid from Ingolstadt has managed to achieve the maximum five-star rating which makes it one of the safest models of its kind. In the attached footage you will notice the car undergoing a frontal impact at 64 km/h, with 40 percent of the car’s width being hit by a deformable barrier. As for the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver’s door at 50 km/h while in the pole test the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron is propelled sideways at 29 km/h into a rigid pole.
In the other video shared below we notice Audi’s first ever series production plug-in hybrid being evaluated by Euro NCAP regarding the automatic brake function as well as the forward collision warning function in three distinct scenarios: driving towards a stationary car at speeds between 30 km/h to 80 km/h; closing in at a slower vehicle in front between 30 km/h to 80 km/h and following a car in front which suddenly starts braking (done at 50 km/h with both gentle and harsh braking).
We remind you the Audi A3 Sedan and S3 Sedan were recently awarded with a five-star rating from US NCAP.
